EDUCATIONAL TRAIN TRIP – JANE MONTESSORI SCHOO

On Wednesday, 12th November 2025, pupils of Jane Montessori School, Tse Addo, Accra, embarked on an educational train excursion from Tema Harbour Station to Afienya Station. The trip was organized by the school in collaboration with the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA), and supported by the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project team. It offered the young learners a unique opportunity to experience rail transportation firsthand in a fun and engaging environment.

The Principal, staff, and pupils were warmly welcomed by the General Manager of the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project, Mr. Kwabena Busia, and his Deputy, Mr. Albert Amankwah, whose presence underscored GRDA’s commitment to promoting railway education and public engagement.

Mrs. Esme Winful, Principal of Jane Montessori School, described the journey as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” for the children, emphasizing its relevance to their curriculum—particularly in understanding railway safety protocols and the historical significance of Ghana’s rail network.

She expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Ghana Railway Development Authority for their collaboration and commended the Government for introducing the train shuttle service along the corridor. She further emphasized the importance of a strong maintenance culture to ensure the sustainability of this vital national asset.

The excursion was both enlightening and memorable, leaving a lasting impression on the pupils and reinforcing the value of experiential learning.
Certainly! Here’s a compelling closing statement that encourages other schools to follow suit:

GRDA encourages other educational institutions to take advantage of this enriching opportunity to expose their pupils to Ghana’s evolving railway infrastructure. Such experiential learning not only enhances classroom knowledge but also fosters national pride and awareness of the country’s transport development.
