Ghana Railway Development Authority Board Inauguration

On Friday, July 25, 2025, the Ministry of Transport hosted a landmark event in its Conference Room in Accra: the official inauguration of the newly constituted Board of the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA). The ceremony commenced at 9:00 AM and was officiated by the Honourable Minister of Transport.

The occasion marked the formal swearing-in of the Board members tasked with overseeing strategic direction and governance within the GRDA. It also served as a platform for the Minister of Transport to issue foundational guidance for the Board’s approach to leadership

The newly appointed Board comprises distinguished professionals with diverse expertise across transport, engineering, and governance:

The Minister commended the Board on their appointment and underscored the strategic significance of the Ghana Railway sector in national development. In his charge to the Board, the Minister emphasized:

Support and cooperation with GRDA staff, especially the Chief Executive Officer, to ensure operational continuity.
Non-interference in day-to-day activities, encouraging respect for technical expertise and procedural autonomy.
Provision of strategic leadership, enabling the Authority to fulfill its mandate while fostering innovation and accountability.

Board Chairman, Mr. R.A.Y. Anamoo, responded to the Minister’s remarks with sincere appreciation and a firm commitment to upholding the principles shared. He stated:

“We will offer the needed support and guidance to the CEO and staff to ensure Ghana’s railways rise to meet the demands of our nation’s development. We are not here to take over operations, but to enable and empower.”

Mr. Anamoo reiterated the Board’s pledge to operate with transparency, collaboration, and shared purpose, aligning its efforts with national transportation goals.
