
Courtesy Visit to Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III by Acting CEO and Management
On 1st May 2025, the acting CEO, Dr. Appoh, together with the management, paid a courtesy call on Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, the Paramount Chief of Akwamuman in the Eastern region. The purpose of the visit was to officially introduce the new CEO and to strengthen collaboration between the railway authority and traditional leadership.
During the engagement, Dr. Appoh provided an update on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line, announcing that train operations from Tema to the Adomi Railway Station would soon commence. He emphasized that the operationalization of the railway would create employment opportunities for the youth in Akwamuman and surrounding communities.
Dr. Appoh also conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic, H.E John Dramani Mahama, and assured the Chief of the government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development through the President’s Resetting Agenda. He affirmed that the railway service is here to stay and will provide a reliable and efficient transportation system.
In addition, Dr. Appoh mentioned ongoing efforts to collaborate with key stakeholders such as the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Ghana Maritime Authority, and the Ghana Shippers’ Authority to ensure the successful integration of railway and the Mpakadan port operations.
Regarding the Mpakadan Port, Odeneho Akoto gave his assurance to assist in resolving any challenges in partnership with the relevant authorities. He also expressed his full support for the President’s vision and welcomed the team warmly. The Chief pledged to work hand-in-hand with the new CEO and offered his blessings, encouraging him to stay true to his words and deliver excellent service in the railway sector.
Dr. Appoh thanked the chief and his traditional leaders for their hospitality as they prayed for the team’s safe journey to Accra.
