AKWAMU CHIEF COMMENDS GHANA RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (GRDA) FOR THE GOOD WORK ON TEMA-MPAKADAN RAILWAY PROJECT.

Akwamu Chief Commends Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) for the good work on Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project.

The Omanhene of Akwamu Traditional Area, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, has commended management and staff of Ghana Railway Development Authority for excellent work at the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project which is about 98% complete.

According to the Chief who has always shown interest in the project, he is very impressed with the work so far and he believes that such a milestone has been achieved due to the hardwork of management and the entire staff of Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA).

He also applauded government for investing huge sums of money into the project and added that it’s in the right direction to revive the rail transport system which hitherto served as the backbone of Ghana’s economy.

He observed that revamping the Railway sector has a huge potential to facilitate movement of people and goods at cheaper rates compared to other means of transport and it would also create more opportunities to increase government revenue,create more jobs for the youth and expand the economy.

He made this statement when he joined the CEO, Mr Yaw Owusu and other staff of the Ghana Railway Development Authority to inspect the project at Senchi, a community within his traditional jurisdiction, on Wednesday 26th July, 2023.

Interacting with the media after inspection, the CEO of GRDA, Mr. Yaw Owusu explained that the project is expected to be completed by the end of December 2023. He indicated that plans are in place to run a test on the line by December to bring the project to completion.
